Toowoomba is 1.5 hours
west of Brisbane via the Warrego Highway. From southern states
it is reached via the New England Highway.
Some superb historic buildings
can be found in Toowoomba and we invite you to take a stroll
down Margaret Street and enjoy some of those that are in
close proximity to Lauriston House.
Pickups from Toowoomba Airport
and Transit Centre can be arranged. There are regular
links by coach to Brisbane (both CBD and airport), the
Darling Downs, NSW and Melbourne.
Toowoomba's image as the garden
city is well merited with an abundance of beautiful parks
and lovely private gardens to explore. The town is famous
for the spring Carnival of Flowers in September
when the pride of Toowoomba's gardens are on display
for everyone to enjoy. The beautiful parks are ablaze
with beds of gorgeous spring annuals.
A well kept secret is the beautiful summer
display in the parks from January to April. The owners
of Lauriston House are passionate gardeners and over
the years have transformed Lauriston's garden
into a special delight for guests to enjoy year round.
Two minutes walk from Lauriston
House is the famous Queens
Park and Botanical Gardens. A short
drive away is the lovely Laurel Bank Park with its special
scented garden, and at the top of the range is Picnic
Point Park. There are many nurseries for visitors to
enjoy.

Trail
Toowoomba, with fifteen antique shops,
has long been recognised as one of the state's premier
antique centres.
Lauriston House is two minutes' walk
from some of Toowoomba's best known antique shops. The
owner of Lauriston House has worked in antiques for years
and is happy to advise guests on purchases.
Restaurants
Gourmet food from the rich Darling Downs
is a speciality of Toowoomba's many fine restaurants.
Lauriston House is centrally situated to take advantage
of a wide variety of cafes and restaurants. Two minutes
walk from Lauriston House brings you to the popular Carousel
Restaurant, winner of many food awards for the past 20
years. A few doors down from there is the popular Park
House Cafe opposite Queens Park.
At the top of Margaret Street is the
renowned Weis Restaurant whose legendary seafood smorgasbord
has won international awards for this restaurant for
decades.
A five-minute stroll into the heart of
the CBD brings you to the 'Eat Street' section of Margaret
Street where a wide variety of cafes from Thai, Italian
and Mexican to the fun Fibber McGee Irish Pub are all
tempting. In the Mort Street section of town Gips offers
fine dining – and we are happy to drive you there
to fully enjoy the menu and wine list.
